Spending time with my father? Questions?

So my parents got divorced recently and I spend every Friday with him. The problem is that obtained is very annoying. I'm tired of watching programs on the computer or TV games, everything. However, given the way it is here in Las Vegas (100) not many places to go. Even if it was cold outside, always absent. Works at the center, so that the last place you want to go is that on his day off. Last week, baked cakes that was fun, but do not know what to do tomorrow. I love my dad, but he does not know what to do, and never moved. What can we do? He 54, we can not really do anything too crazy. I have 14 years, of course. Thank you very much ♥ ♥ ♥

so what you normally do when you're at home with his mother? honestly, someone's life is not much to do sometimes. me, school, homework, television, surf the Internet without notice. Also, you might want to go out to dinner some cases – Applebee's if necessary. just enjoy his time with his father – who was dead for four years and I like spend time with him, even boring.

Custom Publix Bakery Cake?

I’ve ordered a custom cake from the Publix bakery. I’m picking it up Saturday morning. I’ve ordered a custom cake from them before but they didn’t do it how I asked. I didn’t complain or anything then, I just took it since it was similar to how it was supposed to be.

I’m worried that they will mess up again. If they do, do you think that they will remake it for free and have it ready the same day?

If anyone has any previous experience with the Publix bakery and can help I would really appreciate it.

The day before Father’s day, huh? They will probably be completely overrun with orders and be on the verge of a nervous breakdown, this same thing happens to the cake decorators in my bakery every holiday. Everyone learns to hate holidays, your workload goes up by 50%, yet they whine if you get overtime. Your only option is to drink Red Bull by the gallon and just get the extra work done in the same amount of time. I’m glad I’m a baker, and only some of my holidays are bad(like the popular holidays for grilling, where they put 8-packs of French Hamburger buns on sale, and I have to make like 50 million of them).

Anyway, Publix is really supposed to pride themselves on giving the customers what they want, so they really should be making an effort to get your cake right. I would say the last time was probably a fluke. On a slow day I’m sure they would redo it for free and have it ready quickly, they wouldn’t even be *that* angry. As for whether they would redo it on a holiday the same day for free, I’m not sure what the official policy is, I’m not a decorator, but I think it would actually come down to the manager. Of course, it seems like the bigger b**** the customer is, the more likely they are to get their way. I’ve seen a girl throw a princess castle cake together in record time after a customer wouldn’t accept the one she made. Turns out, she only wanted the cake for free, she even tried to convince the store manager to give her the “messed up” cake for free. She went out to her car to get something, and never returned to pick up the “fixed” cake.

puff question?

I live here in the Philippines and the weather is very hot, especially today. Is it possible to make the puff pastry? (I fear that the butter can melt easily into the ground or while it is transformed into a square) Tips, techniques and tips to prevent this from happening?

I agree with the other two answers. go to the market and do it. is much better and easier to work.

The kitchen … In the words of wisdom

Every day when I drive down the main street of my small town to another restaurant bites the dust. No is the fast food places, but mom and dad, chicken wing palace area that has existed for 10 years. It is against no hole in the left wall, Diners, Drive-ins and dives are becoming a thing of the past.

The small donut shop a spouse has died and took an apple pie rib in the menu, which dismissed the bakery. What's happening?

In a recent interview with Jo Lynne Lockley professional owner of the Chefs Agency, the oldest foods and beverages to hire specialists in the United States revealed some insightful information. These are the words of wisdom of all culinary professions found themselves without work. First, if you are in the profession cooking or baking, you know, these jobs are often the first to hit the block.

If you are a beginner in the industry, a rookie, not a leader or chief baker, but a cook or assistant, who is competing with a lot of cooks and chefs who know more than you, so lets not graduate if you have a shot in the head. One of the first things he could do, if you're in the trenches and the unemployed, is to see if you can get a job in a professional environment, since his departure certainly determined his career. Food and Creativity means nothing now Similarly, we are in a serious recession, surrounded by the experience and learn from the best.

Second, you need to keep your job, that is to listen Moreover, keep your opinions to yourself, look and approach. Position expect to stay at least a year, maybe more. The golden rule is, the environment demanding the most valuable learning experience. This will not be a cakewalk by any means, but once you master the initial difficulties, is satisfactory, according Mrs Lockley "Passion prevails satisfaction of all time."

While the dough may / bakers do during these turbulent times? Dig in your care and ensure their knowledge in baking and production, at least for now. "Those with the warning, according to Jo Lynne will be used and who feel the pain. "The idea of becoming a great leader should disappear, follow the light back to reality and let the idea of creating dynamic masterpieces to the Food Network.

Jo Lynne insists: "The bakers are like the canary in the coal mine, since restaurants are looking for in general its low negative margin instead of advertising value. A pastry chef must sell at least 75% of the room. If not, read the audience. They must go public's wishes instead of her passion, and I want people nowadays simple and nostalgic. "

So who's hiring? According to Ms. Lockley, "Hotels continue to recruit workers, and production facilities are replacing the chefs of the restaurants, if you can not get a job as pastry chef in a restaurant, consider using this time to develop their skills and production volume. "Certainly, people are pastry restaurant with a shovel, and it is very difficult to find the bakers and confectioners experienced quality control managers of the commissioner production situations. Do not frown if you and transponder can not do the job of the head, only one position and we believe that education is free education. "

The best way survive the storm is to bite the bullet, bear, and his culinary resume ready at all times. It is much wiser to take a lower position in a good location and avoid moving to a leadership position in the "B minor leagues." Jo Lynn suggests: "If you have friends in the kitchen, offering a substitute in any position. It keeps you on track and everyone knows what is going over the fence in this area. "

There is lax when it comes to your resume and remember to include: phone numbers, email addresses, your address and the dates assigned, and not just the year but the month and year. When creating your resume, leaving out the month is a red flag for employers to make him lose the race before entering the door.

Regarding education, it is important but Jo Lynne believes that "the strength training trenches at all times." His advice is to avoid the luxury online portfolios, dazzle them with brilliance, competence and confidence, not fight with Bull. Those who can not withstand the storm and the company will be a great opportunity in the future. There are some cakes begin to bloom, but possibilities for dessert and wholesale baking companies start of production will not be back for a decade. Do not give up and not just to learn all possible, the tide will surely turn.
